Most people focus on what God has done or what God will do, but they don’t talk about what God is currently doing. This being said, I have an amazing testimony to share about how God is working in my life currently.
A couple days ago my family and I attended Winter Jam, which is a huge Christian concert featuring artists like Skillet, Newsboys, KB, and Colton Dixon. While the preshow was taking place, I left my seat to go look at all the merch being sold by various artists. I walked by this stand where a man around my age was selling t-shirts that said, “smile Jesus loves you.” He was selling these as a promotion for a free event taking place at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas on June 24 and 25 with an organization called Pulse (pulse.org). I started talking to him and I found out that he wasn’t even supposed to be at the concert that night, but the company he was working with (pulse.org) asked him to attend it. He had just recently started working with this company which moved him from Georgia to Texas, and with that came financial troubles. While we were on the topic of finances, I mentioned that I was going on a 9-month mission trip to Costa Rica, Romania, Eswatini, and South Africa, and that I was in the stages of support-raising. He prayed over me right then and there that the Lord would work in mysterious ways to provide me with all of the financial needs to go on the World Race. I bought the shirt, thanked him for everything and went back to my seat for the concert.
Not too long later I felt the Lord tugging on my heart to go back to this man and specifically Venmo him $30. At first, I was confused and a tiny bit hesitant because I didn’t want this man to think I was weird asking for his Venmo. Although I was hesitant, I got out of my seat and made my way back to his stand. At first, he wouldn’t give me his Venmo because he didn’t want me to send him any money, but I told him that God was telling me that this is something I had to do. Not only that, but also everything I have in my life is because of God. That $30 didn’t belong to me, it belonged to God and if He wanted me to send it to him I would. He gave me his Venmo, so I sent him the money and went back to the concert.
The next morning, I woke up for church and was checking my emails while I got ready. I found myself scrolling through notification after notification from Venmo. All of these random people were sending me money with captions like “good luck on your mission trip” and “you’re doing amazing things.” I was SHOCKED to say the least. Not only did I receive all of these venmos, but I also received a message from the same guy from the concert. He asked for my number so that I could send him the link to all of the information for my mission trip. He said that he had a lot more friends interested in donating to me. I truly had no words for what was happening.
All because I obeyed God and sent this man $30, He had already provided me with $108 back!! IF THIS ISN’T GOD, I DON’T KNOW WHAT IS! From this experience I learned to trust in God and obey Him. I was shown firsthand that God will provide!! And most of all I learned that God truly does work in mysterious ways.
If you would like to learn more about the event this man was promoting, go to PULSE.ORG and search for “together 22.” And if you would like to financially support this man with all he is doing for the good name of Jesus, his Venmo is @tannerlauzon. If you feel called to donate to my mission trip you can do so directly through this blog by clicking the “donate” button at the top right, or you can Venmo me @rebeccastockwell
Just remember, GOD WILL ALWAYS PROVIDE!!!!
Lovely gesture and great article. We should all listen to that voice and obey. The world is a better place with people like you in it. Good look to you in your fund raising efforts and this young man in his new job and his financial struggles. I will definitely contribute. 🙂
